TACOMA, Wash. – Wayne E. Fitzpatrick, 92, of Tacoma, Wash., and formerly of Kansas, passed away Jan. 27, 2018. He had a long career in the transportation industry.
Burial with military honors was at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was born Feb. 8, 1925, on the family farm near Kansas, the son of Russell and Marie Fitzpatrick. He married Lenore Busching in 1948 at Chicago, and they moved to Tacoma in 1959.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lenore; children, Lynn (Jack), David (Marsha) and Gail (David); five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Loraine Perry.
Mr. Fitzpatrick joined the Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater of World War II and with the Allied occupation from 1944 to 1946 with the 789th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge at age 19.
He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting and will be remembered for his outgoing personality and love for his family and friends.
