Alfred Edward Bell, 78, of Paris, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was retired after more than 40 years as owner and operator of Bell & Bell Demolition of Paris, and had previously worked in the grocery business for a number of years.
Services celebrating his life are 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Templeton Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenneth Knight officiating. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Private interment is at a later date.
Mr. Bell was born Sept. 19, 1937, at Terre Haute, Ind., the son of the late Alfred "Ed" Bell Sr. and Eileen R. House Bell. He married Barbara Noble March 17, 1957, at Vermilion, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lorrie (Jeff) Cherry of Katy, Texas; a son, Allen Bell of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Richard Bell of Carbon, Ind.; a sister, Naomi Rollings of Paris; six grandchildren, Shawn (Jennifer) Bell, Anthony Bell, Courtney Cherry (Chris Hause), Nathan (Crystal) Bell, Corbin (Krysta) Cherry and Natalie Bell; seven great-grandchildren, Brett and Meghan Bell, Antonia Bell, Grant and Claire Hause, Nathan Bell Jr. and Hope Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Clara Bell; a brother, Robert Bell; and an infant brother, Wendell Bell.
Mr. Bell was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed music and was an Elvis Presley enthusiast. He loved traveling, especially in the company of his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as an outgoing and sociable person who never met a stranger, was kind to animals and always made his family his first priority.
