
CASEY – Charlotte June Greenwell Spraggins passed away Jan. 23, 2017.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Markwell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenny Inman officiating. Burial follows in the Washington Street Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to the service time Saturday at the funeral home. Another visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at MacDonald’s Funeral Home, Howell, Mich.
Mrs. Spraggins was born May 20, 1936, at Martinsville and raised in the community. She married Jack Spraggins 59 years ago and the family moved to Howell, Mich., in 1966, where she resided until her passing.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Rod (Evelyn) Spraggins, Lisa (Chuck) Thornton, Greg (Alissa) Spraggins and Mike (Leslie) Spraggins; 12 grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Robbie, Ben, Nico, Amy, Madalyn, Jason, Jackson, Liam, Cameron and Olivia; 10 great-grandchildren, Kalie, Noah, Ashlyn, Aiden, Carter, Dylan, Emmett, Jettson, Scarlett and Lenora; three siblings, Jim (Penny) Greenwell, Della (Ken) Headrick, Sharon (Don) Juergens; and sister-in-law, Linda (Roger) Vandyke.
She earned a bachelor’s in education from Eastern Illinois University and taught elementary school for 27 years. Charlotte had a large impact on many students in the Howell area and enjoyed the ability to touch a young person’s life. Children were the blessing of her life and this was evident in the joy she got from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Spraggins loved to tend to her flower gardens, walk the beaches of Florida, travel both domestically and internationally, interior decorating, shopping, teaching both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and hosting family get-togethers.
