
Pauline Marie Sunkel Egan, 103, of Paris, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at Life’s Journey Senior Living. She was a homemaker and formerly employed at Edgar County Bank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ronald Hilt as celebrant. Burial follows in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the Mass Thursday in the gathering space at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mrs. Eagan was born March 15, 1915, at Paris, the daughter of the late Jacob R. and Ora Ingram Sunkel. She married Leo A. Egan in 1939 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he passed away in 1985.
Survivors include her children, John Egan of Riley, Ind., Sharon (Bob) Bailey of Paris, Diane Hall of Paris, Robert (Sharon) Egan of Eagle, Colo., Jerry (Lori Bouslog) Egan of Paris and David Egan of Paris; seven grandchildren, Melissa (David) Speicher of Paris, Melanie Bailey of Champaign, Lindsey Egan (Gregg) Jackson of Brownsburg, Ind., Cody Egan of Paris, Jacob Egan of Redding, Calif., Kelly Egan (Scott) Scarborough of Redding, Calif., and Daniel Egan of Chicago; two step-grandchildren, Kris and Kyle Keys of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Kennedy of Tallahassee, Fla.
She was preceded in death by two siblings, Rosemary Kennedy and Robert J. Sunkel.
Mrs. Eagan was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member for several years of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was formerly a Cub Scout Leader, was very involved in 4-H and was an avid University of Illinois fan.
