
John Charles Adams, 95, of Paris, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Paris Healthcare Center. He was retired from farming and the Edgar County Highway Department where he worked for more than 16 years. He also worked as an equipment operator for Feutz Construction and as a bus driver for Crestwood School District.
A service celebrating his life is 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Templeton Funeral Home. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery, east of Kansas. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Adams was born Feb. 10, 1923, on the family farm, Elm Lawn, outside of Paris, the son of the late Allyn J. and Mary E. Dodd Adams Sr. He married Dorothy Jean Pinnell April 28, 1944, at the First Christian Church in Decatur, and she preceded him in death Nov. 19, 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Beth (La Verne) Debatin of Robinson; a son, Edward (Marie) Adams of Cookville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Allyn J. Adams Jr. of Paris; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Pinnell of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Adams; and two sisters, Marjorie Ellyn and Virginia Dickenson.
Mr. Adams was a member of Lake Ridge Christian Church, the Scottish Rite and he was a member of Prairie Masonic Lodge #77 for 58 years. After retirement, he and his wife spent several winters at Pine Island, Fla. He enjoyed fishing.
