NEWMAN – Ron Stein, 71, of Newman, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at his home, rural Newman.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at the Newman United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dean Beals officiating. Burial is in Fairfield Cemetery, north of Newman. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Joines Funeral Home.
Mr. Stein was born Feb. 13, 1946, at Vandalia, the son of the late Ronald and Virginia Karnes Stein. He married Cindy McCallister, March 12, 2005, at Chrisman, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ingrid (Ted) Minger of Tuscola and Megan (John) Klemm of Waynesville; three stepchildren, Amy McCallister (Craig) Hall of Quincy, Andy (Katie) McCallister of German Town Hills and Leslie(Rob) Gordon of Tuscola; 11 grandchildren, Meredith and Ted Abbas, Allison and Taylor Gordon, Reese and Caleb McCallister, Blaine, Calla and Quentin Klemm, Bronwyn and Brayson Minger; and one sister, Gayle (David) Hooks.
Mr. Stein was a graduate of ISU and received his master’s degree from the University of Illinois. He was a loving and dedicated teacher for many years. Following his teaching career, he worked at Syngenta Seeds in Paris until his retirement.
He loved fishing, IHB tractors and spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed their many camping and traveling adventures.
