
LAWRENCE, Kan. – LaDonna "Kate" Mattingly Dillon, 75, died Aug. 19, 2017, at Pioneer Ridge Healthcare following a long illness.
A memorial service is 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, at First Southern Baptist Church, Lawrence, Kan.
Mrs. Dillon was born on April 24, 1942, at Paris, the daughter of C. Francis and Aline Newman Mattingly. She married Larry "Smitty" Dillon, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Charlie (Michele) Dillon, Linda Dillon Nelsen and Laura Downs; siblings, Anna Marie (John) Schertz, Bonnie Lou (Lance) McGrew, Paul (Kim) Mattingly; grandchildren, Trisha (DJ) Flummerfelt, Adam Nelsen, Shelby Nelsen, Glenn (Heather) Brunner and Jason (Kelly) MacArthur; several nieces and nephews; and great-grandchildren.
After moving to Lawrence, Mrs. Mattingly spent many years working in the psychology department at Kansas University. It was a job she loved and where she developed many friendships.
