Charles Rollings

Charles Walter Rollings, 66, of Ashmore, passed away at 4:12 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at his residence. He was a truck driver for CHI and Service Star.

The funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Military honors by American Legion Post 211 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3601 accompany burial in Embarrass Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the funeral home.

Mr. Rollings was born July 18, 1950, at Paris, the son of the late Walter and Blanche Wright Rollings. He married Sandra Bright Rollings April 14, 2000, at the Ashmore Presbyterian Church, and she survives.

Other survivors include four children, Scott Rollings of New Mexico, Michelle (Mark) Kittl of Champaign, Eric (Thersa) Rollings of Tolono and Robin (Derek) Fasnacht of Ashmore; two stepchildren, Beth Barrett of Sarasota, Fla., and Dale (Tara) Golladay of Ashmore; six siblings, Donna Shewey of Paris, Wanda Porter of Paris, Nancy Weger of Bloomington, Larry Rollings of Hume, Susie Kurek of Brocton and Ruth Rollings of Monticello; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, William Golladay; three brothers, Richard Rollings, Thomas Rollings and Robert Rollings; and two sisters, Betty Eggers and Margaret Whittemore.

Mr. Rollings was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post 211 at Paris and Enon Baptist Church at Ashmore. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and playing cards with his family.
