BROCTON – Kenneth Rhodes, 90, of Brocton, passed away at 5:19 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Presence Hospital Medical Center, Urbana. He was a lifelong farmer in the Newman area.
Graveside funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Fairfield Cemetery, north of Newman. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Joines Funeral Home.
Mr. Rhodes was born May 26, 1926, in Douglas County, the son of the late John and Mary Denbo Rhodes. He married Helen Barrett Jan. 29, 1955, and she preceded him in death Oct. 21, 2014.
Surviving are three sons, Daryl (Julie) Rhodes, Maryland Heights, Mo., Gary (Melissa) Rhodes, Decatur and Lary (Teri) Rhodes, Brocton; one daughter, Sandra ( Gary) Ferguson, St. Joseph; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild
Mr. Rhodes was a veteran and a member of the Newman American Legion. He loved carpentry and working jigsaw puzzles of all sizes. He adored his grandchildren and lived life to the fullest.
