
VINCENNES, Ind. – Richard S. Clark, 85, passed away March 8, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was retired from both the U.S. Army and Vincennes University.
The family will hold a celebration of life service from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Mr. Clark’s home in Hume. The Goodwin Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mr. Clark was born Sept. 14, 1931, at Rockville, Ind., the son of the late Paul and Louisa Alice Monroe Clark. He married Martha Jane Wills, and she preceded him in death in September 2000. He then married Shirley Kerner, and she preceded him in death in July 2014.
Survivors include his daughters, Karie Ennis of Spring, Texas, Margaret Clark Rickenbach of Terre Haute, Ind., and Sharon (Joe) Earl of Rockville, Ind.; his sons, David Clark of Paris and Richard “Rick” (Janet) Clark of Spring, Texas; sisters, Phyllis Akers of Rockville, Ind., Carolyn Rogers of Bradford, Vt.; grandchildren, Kevin Clark, Joseph Duregger, B.J. Duregger, Angela Stoner, Erin Kidd, Emily Hastings, Megan Millspaugh, Eric Clark, Nicole Foster, Jamie Clark; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Harmon.
After retiring from the U.S. Army, Mr. Clark joined the faculty at Vincennes University as a professor in robotics and electronics. He enjoyed being a part of the bridge club at Vincennes, and he loved U.S. history and enjoyed hanging out at the Twisted Piston in Hume. His other enjoyments included gardening, landscaping and working on his house. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was thrilled to see the Cubbies win the World Series.
