Judy Ormiston

Judy See Ormiston, 72, of Paris, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at her residence. She retired from Shiloh School District as a special education teacher and had previously taught in Decatur.

Services celebrating her life are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Templeton Funeral Home, with Pastors Nate Alexander and Shane Mullins officiating. Burial follows in Franklin Cemetery, south of Chrisman. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ormiston was born March 6, 1944, at Paris, the daughter of the late Loren and Reva Jane Walters See. She married Warren Ormiston April 30, 1978, at Paris, and he preceded her in death May 26, 2015.

Survivors include two sons, Rowdy (Georganna) Reed of Evansville, Ind., and Matt (Julie) Reed of Paris; a brother, Vern (Karen) See of Paris; three grandchildren, Cierra Haddix, Taylor Reed and Tanner Reed; a great-granddaughter, Carsten Haddix; several nieces and nephews; and special extended family members Shane, Renae, Kade, Reed and Thad Mullins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry See, and a sister, Janet Wilson.

Mrs. Ormiston was a member of Lake Ridge Christian Church of Paris and a former member of Bell Ridge Christian Church of Paris for many years. She was active in the youth programs at both churches and at Bell Ridge had served as a Vacation Bible School teacher and as an assistant pianist. She will be remembered for her faith, smile, friendliness, sense of humor and her helping hand when she saw a need.

She began her college education at age 40 at the gentle nudging of her husband, earning an associate degree from Lake Land College, and her bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University. She enjoyed her 15 years as a teacher and continued to teach after retirement with the Lake Land GED program, as well as substitute teaching in several local school districts.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lake Ridge Christian Church Children's Ministry.
