
Julia Powell Blair, 93, of Terre Haute, Ind., and formerly of Paris, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at her residence. She was a bookkeeper for Larsson, Woodyard and Henson at Paris for 25 years.
Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Presbyterian Church and burial is in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blair was born May 7, 1923, in Wayne County, the daughter of the late William Leslie and Edith Y. McEndree Powell. She married Wendell Austin Blair Aug. 16, 1942, at Flora, and he passed away March 21, 2009.
Survivors include four children, Arnold (Nancy) Blair of Champaign, Leslie (Jayne) Blair of Danville, Va., Byron (Diana) Blair of Bloomington and Susan (James) Farris of Paris; a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Floyd of Charleston; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lenora Thompson.
Mrs. Blair was a 1940 graduate of Harter Stanford Township High School at Flora and attended Eastern Illinois University for two years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Paris where she was an active member of the Women’s Association and served as financial secretary and treasurer for 18 years.
After moving to Westminster Village in 1997, she attended Central Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute. Also at Westminster, she helped as a volunteer in the Village Store for a few years and served on the library committee.
